Wagoner Alfred V. Danforth, Company D, 101st Ammunition Train, 26th Division, was gassed on 28 October 1918, near Verdun. He enlisted into the 1st Vermont Infantry in July 1917. His earliest enlistment record and his grave marker show him as “Alford”, but the rest of his records show “Alfred”.
