USMC Distinguished Marksman pair (SSgt R.H. Blackett)

Pair of gold marksmanship badges to SSgt Robert H. Blackett, US Marine Corps: Distinguished Marksman Badge, gold and enamel, hand-engraved “SSgt/Robert H./Blackett/USMC/1954″, pin-back (36.9 grams); Marine Corps Division Rifle Competition Badge, gold and enamel, hand-engraved “SSgt/Robert H. Blackett/1953″, pin-back (35.6 grams). The badge pendants test as 18-karat gold. Minor wear.

Blackett enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1948. In 1954, he was part of the Marine Corps team that won the National Trophy Rifle Team Match. He continued shooting in the National Matches through the late 1950s, including being a member of the winning Elliott Trophy team of the 2nd Marine Division in 1957.
