St. Nicholas Society of the City of New York membership badge (19mm), numbered “622″ on the reverse and marked “Sterling”; engraved “E. J. Elting/May 1st, 1905″ on the attachment button. The ribbon shows age and wear. This is the badge illustrated (#89) in “American Society Medals”, by Lee Bishop and J. Robert Elliott, 1998. $150

Ezekiel J. Elting (1836-1913) was in the dry goods business in New York before becoming a bank officer. He also served a term on the New York City Board of Police Commissioners.
