St. Nicholas Society of the City of New York Steward’s Medal (38mm), engraved on the reverse “John B. Pine/Steward/No.5″. On an orange neck ribbon. This is the badge illustrated (#89d) in “American Society Medals”, by Lee Bishop and J. Robert Elliott, 1998.

John B. Pine as an 1877 graduate of Columbia University (Columbia Law School, 1879). He served as an attorney for the university and on its Board of Trustees for over 30 years. Pine died in 1922.
