PFC Dewey R. Hartsburg, Company B, 152nd Infantry, 38th Infantry Division, was killed in action on 12 February 1945. On that day, the 152nd Infantry was involved in clearing Japanese forces out of Zig-Zag Pass in the effort to retake the Bataan Peninsula. Hartsburg was buried in Westphalia, Indiana. The 38th Infantry Division only awarded 225 Silver Stars during World War II.
