Silver Star, with two small oak leaf clusters, split brooch, numbered “1067″ and hand-engraved “George A./Keyser”. With copied research.

1st Division General Orders No. 93 (9 Dec 1918) says: “The Division Commander cites the following…organizations, officers and men of this command for distinguished conduct in the recent operations between the Argonne and the Meuse: Lt George A. Keyser, 18th Infantry, accomplished numerous missions of liaison throughout the engagement with the utmost gallantry and disregard of danger. Altho gassed and knocked down by shell fire, he refused to retire from the combat.” Keyser was also cited for gallantry in action in 1st Infantry Brigade General Orders No. 5 (1 June 1919). His third Silver Star came from a citation in 1st Division General Orders No.1 (1 January 1920). Keyser was wounded in action on 30 May 1918 and a Purple Heart was awarded on 14 June 1932. He received a French Croix de Guerre with silver star with a citation from the French Armies of the East: “An officer of great energy, animated with a well-tried courage. He exerted himself to the utmost during the entire campaign. Was wounded three times in the accomplishment of difficult missions.” Keyser was from Omaha, Nebraska. After the war, he served as an assistant US Attorney.
