Purple Heart, slot brooch, hand-engraved “George W./Scott”.

With copied casualty file showing SSgt Scott, 565th Bomb Squadron, 389th Bomb Group, was a waist gunner killed in action 26 November 1943, when his B-24 Liberator was shot down by fighters over the Netherlands while returning from a mission into Germany. Scott had survived the “Tidal Wave” mission to Ploesti in the B-24 named “Sack-Time Sally”, the aircraft in which he was killed. Scott was from Decatur, Illinois.
