Ohio. Civil War Service Medal, engraved “Wm. S. Camren” and “Co. D, 43rd Regt”.

The 43rd Ohio Infantry was organized in February 1862 and quickly saw action at New Madrid, Missouri. The regiment campaigned through Mississippi and Alabama and took part in the actions around Atlanta. The regiment lost 65 men in action and another 191 to disease.
