Nebraska. Norfolk World War I Service Medal, with “Pvt/H.E. Ney” scratched on the reverse.

This is possibly Pvt Henry E. Ney (1892-1961), who served in Company H, 38th Infantry (“Rock of the Marne”), during World War I. Ney is  buried in Dale, Iowa.

Norfolk’s population in 1920 was 8,634.
