Harold Frederick Hoff was born in New York in 1908 and enlisted in the Navy in 1925. In June 1942, he reported aboard USS Philadelphia (CL-41) as a Boatswains Mate. The ship served in the Atlantic and Mediterranean, supporting operations in North Africa and Italy.
Hoff was promoted to Chief Boatswain in February 1945 and retired as a CWO-2 in April 1954. He died in Florida in March 2002.
