Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States. Membership badge, numbered “10632″ on the loop; on a blue-centered companion’s ribbon. Issued to Captain Noble Delance Preston, 10th New York Cavalry.

Captain Preston, who wrote a history of the 10th New York Cavalry, was awarded the Medal of Honor for leading a charge at Trevilian Station, Virginia, on 11 June 1864. The citation:” Voluntarily led a charge in which he was severely wounded”. The regiment was organized in August 1861 and saw action at Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, the Wilderness and Petersburg, among others. The 10th New York Cavalry lost 102 men killed and another 149 to disease.
