Mexican Border Service lot to Sgt Archie B. Moore, 17th Cavalry: Mexican Border Service Medal, numbered “6762″ (ribbon resewn across the back), with a ribbon bar and enamel lapel pin; Sharpshooter Badge, with “Sgt” and “Moore” crudely scratched across the back. With a pair of enlisted Cavalry collar discs (F Troop).

Moore, who was born in Pittsburgh in 1894, enlisted in the Army in July 1916, rising to First Sergeant in April 1920. He served his entire enlistment with the 17th Cavalry. Moore died in Pittsburgh in April 1964 and is buried there. The 17th Cavalry was formed in 1916 and served through World War I along the US-Mexico Border.
