Massachusetts. First Call Medal (Prvt C.H. Dyer, 1st Light Battery)

Massachusetts. First Call Medal, impressed “Charles H. Dyer, Prvt, 1st Lt. Bat.”.

Dyer is confirmed on the 1st Light Battery roll. The battery left Boston on 21 April, headed for Fortress Monroe, Virginia, and then to Annapolis, where they provided security for roads and railroads being used by troops on their way to Washington. After extending their enlistment for a few days, the battery was mustered out in Boston in August 1861.
