Haiti. Imperial Order of the Legion of Honor, chevalier. In silver and enamel, with gold centers. Hallmarked on the ring with a Mercury head (French export mark for 1840-1879). Enamel chipping to most of the star arms and both surrounds; on an old red/white/red ribbon with a wide center stripe. Exceptionally rare.

This civil order was founded by Haiti’s Emperor Faustin I in September 1849 to reward loyalty to his regime.
