Group of three to Sergeant Roy B. Henderson, US Marine Corps:  American Campaign Medal; Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal; World War II Victory Medal. With a ribbon with the Navy Commendation Ribbon, American Campaign and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign  (4 stars). With original Letter of Commendation signed by Lt Gen Roy S. Geiger, CG, Fleet Marine Force, Pacific, and authorizing wear of the Commendation Ribbon (folded, some staining). With some photocopied service record data.

Henderson’s Letter of Commendation cites him “for meritorious and efficient performance of duty while serving in a Marine armored amphibian battalion during the operations against the enemy on Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands, from 31 January to 5 February 1944; Guam, Marianas Islands, from 21 July to 10 August, 1944; and Okinawa Shima, Ryukyu Islands, from 1 April to 21 June 1945. Throughout these campaigns, Sergeant Henderson capably and conscientiously directed his squad in all phases of armored amphibian employment. During the Okinawa Shima operation, he commanded his platoon commander’s tank, maneuvering it in such a manner that his platoon commander was able to direct the employment of his armored amphibians more efficiently than otherwise possible…”  Henderson was from Providence, Rhode Island. Born in 1922, he died in June 1959.
