Arbor Dell Fields was born in Kentucky in 1897, enlisted in the Army in 1915 and is confirmed on the roll for the Army Mexican Service Medal. During World War I, he served in the 18th Infantry, 1st Division. He was severely wounded on 21 July 1918 and was discharged in February 1919. In 1998, France bestowed the Legion of Honor on surviving American veterans of World War I. Fields died in 1999 (age of 102) and is buried in Dayton, Ohio.
