Distinguished Flying Cross, Navy strike with braised loop, slot brooch, machine-engraved “M. J. Rutschow”. In a black leatherette case with ribbon bar and lapel pin.

Michael J. Rutschow joined the Air Force in 1969 and attended pilot training. He flew A-1E Skyraiders. He later joined the Air National Guard. In 1982, he returned to active duty, flying F-111s, for the rest of his career, including combat service during the Gulf War. He retired from the Air Force as a major.
