Air Medal to Staff Sergeant Edward D. Morgan, 548th Bomb Squadron, 385th Bomb Group: Air Medal, with 2 oak leaf clusters, slot brooch , hand-engraved “Sgt/Edward D./Morgan/AC”. In a black leatherette case with ribbon bar and lapel pin. With copied MACR and German capture records data.

Morgan was the tail gunner on the B-17 “Reluctant Lady” when it was shot down on 26 September 1944 while on a bombing mission against Bremen, Germany. He and the rest of his crew were taken prisoner at the time and returned to US control in July 1945. Morgan was on his 19th mission when his aircraft was hit by flak while exiting the target area. The squadron flew out of Great Ashfield, Suffolk.
