Cuban Pacification Medal, Marine Corps, numbered “677″. Expertly reribboned on a split brooch with an open catch. With photocopied research verifying the issue of this medal to Sergeant William Hayes.

Hayes enlisted in July 1906. In 1909, he was assigned to Company C, 1st Provisional Regiment, at Camp Columbia, Havana, Cuba. He had later service in Nicaragua, earning the First Nicaraguan Campaign Medal #505 (location unknown). In 1917, he was assigned to Haiti, where he remained through June 1918, earning the “West Indies” clasp for his Victory Medal. Hayes served through September 1923. He was from Pine Knot, Kentucky.
