Cuban Occupation Medal, Army, “No.3845”

Cuban Occupation Medal, Army, numbered “No.3845”.  A large corrosion spot runs from 9:00 to 11:00 on the obverse.

Issued to Major (later Colonel) C.E. Delaplane, 32nd Infantry.  During World War I, as a lieutenant colonel, Channing Edmonds Delaplane commanded the 140th Infantry, 35th Division, which was heavily engaged in the Meuse-Argonne. Col Delaplane, born in 1871, died in April 1956 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
