Chain-link Sampson Medal, with “USS Yankee” top bar, “Santiago de Cuba/June 6″ reverse and chain-link bars “Cienfuegos (June 13)’ and “Casilda (June 20)”, engraved “Henry C. Rowland, Sea”. Ribbon and pendant show age and wear, with some discoloration.

Rowland is confirmed on the ship’s roll. The medal and bars were authorized in the Phase II distribution.
