Pair attributed to Corporal Ralph E. Lanum, Anti-Tank Company, 120th Infantry, 30th Infantry Division: Bronze Star, slot brooch, unnamed, cased with ribbon bar and lapel pin; Purple Heart, slot brooch, unnamed, cased with ribbon bar and lapel pin. With a British-made ribbon bar (Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, EAME Campaign Medal, with 5 stars) and an original extract from GO No. 9, 136th Station Hospital (APO 644) awarding the Purple Heart to PFC Ralph E. Lanum for wounds received on 8 August 1944.

On 8 August 1944, the 120th Infantry was heavily involved in blunting German armored counterattacks around the town of Mortain (Operation Luttich). Lanum apparently sustained a wound severe enough to require his evacuation to the 136th Station Hospital in England. Lanum (1922-1977) was from Fort Wayne, Indiana. With some research.
