Spec4 Albert Harold Altizer, 8th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division, was drowned when a boat transporting 15 men from his unit capsized and sank in Binh Duong Provice, Republic of Vietnam, on 8 October 1969. A witness to the sinking noted that Altizer could not swim and was heavily loaded at the time. Initially listed as missing, Altizer was declared dead by board action in 1971. He was listed as a non-battle casualty and his body was not recovered. Altizer is commemorated on the Tablets of the Missing at the National Cemetery of the Pacific, in Honolulu. He was from Squire, West Virginia.
