POW Medal (Gladimir Philippe)

Sergeant First Class Gladimir Philippe and another soldier were reported missing on 25 June 2003 when they did not respond to a radio check near Baghdad, Iraq. His body was found 3 days later. He had apparently been abducted and executed. The Haitian-born Philippe emigrated to the United States when he was 13 and was serving with the 18th Field Artillery Regiment at the time of his death. His family lived in Roselle, New Jersey.
