Brearley enlisted in June 1918 from Ithaca, New York. He served at Parris Island through March 1919. After the war, Brearley joined the Ithaca Fire Department and remained with them until his death in May 1959. The research includes a copy of his Good Conduct Medal certificate, which verifies the medal number.
