Spec4 Wayne M. Joslin, 8th Infantry, was part of a reconnaissance team on 12 March 1969, when the Assistant Team Leader, James A. Franklin, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for actions while assessing the results of B-52 strikes in an area controlled by the enemy. Joslin provided one of the eyewitness accounts of Franklin’s action near Polei Kleng, Vietnam. Joslin was initially reported as “missing in action” after this mission, but returned to duty. It is likely that Joslin’s Silver Star was for this same action. Joslin was from Groton, Connecticut.
