Stephen Andrew Loftus served as assistant engineer officer aboard USS Seattle in 1925 and reported aboard USS Rigel in 1930. He was a naval inspector when he retired in 1934 with 32 years of service, and was promoted to commander on the retired list in 1943. Commander Loftus died in February 1967 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
