Military Medal, GV (200595 Pte J. Stirrat, 5/A&S Highrs:).

There is a Greenock Telegraph newspaper mention of Private Stirrat being admitted to hospital in Malta on 23 October 1915, when the battalion was in Gallipoli. Stirrat’s Military Medal was announced in the London Gazette of 24 January 1919. The 5th Battalion served at Gallipoli, Palestine and Egypt before moving to France in 1918.
