QSA, “CC/Wepener” (Beetlestone, Brabant’s Horse) KIA at Wepener

Product ID: B-4045
Country: Great Britain
Condition: VF

Queen’s South Africa Medal, clasps “Cape Colony” and “Wepener” (5058 Tpr: J.G. Beetlestone, Brabant’s Horse). Edge nicks.

Beetlestone is confirmed on the roll for the medal and these two clasps, noting that he was killed on 24 April 1900, the final day of the Boer siege of Wepener. British forces suffered 33 men killed and 133 wounded during the siege. Beetlestone had joined Brabant’s Horse from the Warwickshire Yeomanry and was apparently killed by a bullet that entered his mouth and exited near his spine.
