With the original Purple Heart certificate to First Lieutenant James W. Reaves, Corps of Engineers, for wounds received in Europe on 18 December 1944 (dated 25 April 1960); Purple Heart certificate to Captain James W. Reaves, Corps of Engineers, for wounds resulting in his death on 3 September 1950 (dated 25 April 1960). With a mailing label addressed to “Master Frederick C. Reaves” in Alexandria, Virginia; a 2nd Infantry Division patch and a full Individual Deceased Personnel File.
Captain Reaves, 2nd Engineer Combat Battalion, was killed in the Naktong Bulge, when several North Korean divisions broke through the lines of the US 2nd Infantry Division and caused extensive casualties. Captain Reaves, who was from Opelika, Alabama, had apparently served in Europe and the Pacific during World War II.
