Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Valor Medal for Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, machine-engraved “David E./Metzger”.

Sergeant First Class David E. Metzger, 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), died 26 October 2009 when the MH-47 helicopter he was aboard crashed in western Afghanistan. He held the Bronze Star, Army Commendation and Army Achievement medals. SFC Metzger was from San Diego, California, and is buried in the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
