Military Medal, GV (Pte W. Bailey, KRRC)

Military Medal, GV (7068 Pte W. Bailey, 1/K.R.Rif:C.).

Bailey attested into the KRRC in 1906 and served in Egypt for two years. He transferred to the Reserves in 1912, but was recalled in 1914. He was wounded in 1915 and again on the Somme in August 1916, in addition to two other wounds later in the war. He apparently earned the Military Medal for actions near Demicourt in September 1918. He returned to the Reserves in 1919. In 1921, he moved to the United States (Royal Oak, Michigan).  Pte Bailey’s Military Medal was announced in the London Gazette of 19 June 1919.
