Brazil. Medal for the Centennial of Marshal Hermes, 1855-1955, bronze.
Marshal Hermes da Fonseca rose to high rank in the Army and became Minister of War in 1906. He was elected president of Brazil in 1910, serving through 1914. His term started with a mutiny in the Navy, which was the first of several internal conflicts he had to deal with. After leaving office in 1914, he moved to Switzerland. Hermes died in 1923.
