Albania. Accession Medal of Prince William of Wied 1914, bronze. With a 3-ring suspension.
Prince William of Wied was appointed to the throne of Albania and reigned from March through September of 1914. His reign was marked by a civil war and the occupation of part of the country by Greece, as well as the outbreak of World War I. After leaving Albania, he returned to Germany and served in the German Army. When Albania became a republic in 1925, William’s reign officially ended. He died in April 1945 in Romania.
